Vinyl Wrap
Vinyl wrap has recently emerged as a completely viable alternative to traditional paint which can quickly become expensive and has its own set of limitations. With the growth of the vinyl wrap industry there has been an increase in vinyl wrap shops popping up. Lots of these are overnight shops and small crews meant to slap the vinyl up and get paid. Here at Elite Vinyl Design we have worked tirelessly to refine our process and we aim for quality work over quantity. We take pride in each and every job we do.
Vinyl is a durable and flexible material that adheres to multiple different surfaces. In the simplest terms, it’s a giant sticker that can be used to decorate numerous objects. When people think of vinyl wrap they think of vehicles, but vinyl wrap can be used on so much more than just that. You can decorate signs with vinyl, you can change the color of your fridge, or you can wrap your laptop. The requirements are pretty simple: the material being wrapped can’t be too curvy, it can’t be too dirty, and it can’t be subject to extreme temperature changes. If you have something in mind that you think would be amazing if it was covered in vinyl, you should first consult with a vinyl wrap shop to see if it’s possible. Always be sure to ask how long they think the wrap will last for as well!
The Benefits of Vinyl Wrap
The main benefits of vinyl wrap are that it’s very protective to whatever surface you are applying it to. Think of it as a little shield from the day to day scratches and dings the item would receive. It won’t protect your car if it’s sideswiped, but it sure helps to protect the paint from rock chips that you regularly see from day to day driving. And if the vinyl ever gets chipped, cracked, or just fades, you can always replace a section as opposed to repainting an entire object.
The second main benefit to vinyl wrap is that there are so many options to choose from. Between the different manufactures and different styles of vinyl, the possibilities are almost endless. Not to mention the choice of finishes available. You can choose from a glossy metallic to a matte to something even more custom. And you’re not limited to one color either. Vinyl provides an easy way to incorporate multiple colors onto an object for a fraction of the price of a custom paint job.
How To Care For Vinyl Wrap
Vinyl wrap is also easy to care for. At Elite Vinyl Design we generally recommend just soap and water for your average cleaning. If you are looking for a cleaning product that’s specially made for vinyl wrap, there’s tons of options on the market. You should always consult with a vinyl wrap shop before purchasing a specific cleaning product for vinyl as they will have tons of experience with lots of different products on different types of vinyl and be able to give you the best suggestion possible. What may work on some finishes may not work as well on others, and it never hurts to get a professional’s advice.
Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap
Carbon fiber is one of the most commonly used specialty vinyls on the market. At a fraction of the price it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference from real carbon fiber unless you pick it up. And there’s so many items that look great in carbon fiber that don’t actually need to be made of carbon fiber. These days there’s tons of different carbon fiber vinyls to choose from, you aren’t even bound to the traditional gray and black anymore. The possibilities are endless!
Wood Grain Vinyl Wrap
Wood grain has become a more and more popular option for those looking for something a little more creative and original. We’ve wrapped the insides of tool boxes and car rims in wood grain vinyl, and it certainly creates a totally unique look to an otherwise ordinary object.

That’s not to say that 3M makes bad vinyl, it’s just that we have found other companies to make better vinyl.

Digitally Printed Vinyl Wrap
The final option when choosing a vinyl film is to have one digitally printed. When you see super custom images on film, that means it’s been digitally printed. This sections really gives you endless possibilities. We’ve digitally printed city views and wrapped walls with it to give the appearance of a giant painting. You can have a completely unique look to anything you can vinyl wrap, and for some, this is the only real option. When looking for digitally printed vinyl the most important factor will be the printer. Always look for a vinyl wrap shop using a modern printer so you can be assured that your image will come out as high quality as possible.
